Sustainable Development Goals
The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals were approved by the representatives of all United Nations member states in September of 2015. These Goals, which apply for the period of 2016-2030, are 17 in number with 169 sub-goals and address local issues as well as international cooperation during the period.
The roles of Vatnajökull National Park are extensive and cover a wide range of issues. The global goals are therefore well suited to the work, and work was carried out based on the park's stated goals when choosing the priorities and sub-goals within them.
