Constructions at Jökulsárlón
Constructions on the parking lot on the main area at Jökulsárlón have started. We aim to open the parkinglot again on the 26th of April. The project is going well and the staff of Vatnajökulsþjóðgarður National Park wants to thank everybody for their understanding and cooperation
On Wednesday the 24th of April and Thursday the 25th of April the main parking lot at Jökulsárlón will be closed for all regular traffic, due to constructions.
The parking lots on the south side of road 1, on either side of the river, will be open. Also, the new parking lot at Nýgræðuöldur, which is located approximately 2 km west of Jökulsárlón, will be open.
It will still be possible to walk to the main area via the Eystri-Fellsfjara parking lot. A walking path goes from there, under the bridge and directly to the main area. All the regular services like toilets, food and glacier activities meeting points will still be open but you will have to use the Eystri-Fellsfjara parking lot and walk under the bridge to reach this area.
