Dettifoss area closed due to dangerous conditions

The area at Dettifoss west of Jöklulsá á Fjöllum river has been temporarily closed due to dangerous conditions. During the storm that swept across Iceland last week, a lot of snow accumulated in the area. In the warm weather of the past few days, the snow has melted very quickly, and water puddles have formed, there is a lot of slush on the footpaths and in many places, it is not safe to walk on the snow as a hollow cavity has been created under it.
