Ice Cave Tours and Glacier Hikes

"The board agrees that the authority to extend contracts also extends to ice cave tours in places where a risk assessment has been carried out and are specified in the annex to the contract. Furthermore, the terms will stipulate a cooperative group of operators and AIMG (Association of Mountain Guides in Iceland) which will carry out daily site assessments. Such an assessment is based on a risk assessment that Vatnajökull National Park has made in 2017. This is a pilot project during the one month extension of contracts and might take changes during that time frame. The board agrees the authority to collect service fees from the contract holders to cover the possible costs of the cooperative group in question. The board points out that the safety of tourists in sold tours is ultimately the responsibility of the tourism company and the guide".
