Here is the pricelist that applies in Vatnajökull National Park regarding fees for camping, overnighting in huts, regional fees for Skaftafell and Jökulsárlón, permit processing fees and other fees..
Payment for camping and area fees
Parka Buisness Solution ehf is the National Park service provider for online paymens for the campground in Ásbyrgi and for the regional fees (collected at parking lots) in Skaftafell and at Jökulsárlón.
Campsites in Ásbyrgi and Skaftafell
The fee is based on accommodation for one person for one night. In addition, accommodation tax is charged per accommodation unit.
- Included in the campsite fee is access to a shower, washing machine and dryer (dryer is in Skaftafell).
- Senior citizens (67 years and older) and disabled persons are given a discount on accommodation fees.
- Access for children aged 16 and under accompanied by an adult to the campsite is free of charge.
*Note: The electrical connection is only intended for electrical devices within the area. It is not permitted to use the connection to charge vehicles, the systems are neither powerful nor safe enough for such charging.

The campsite has 8 pitches, marked with the letters A-H. The pitches are divided into categories according to access to electricity, whether they can be driven into or not, and whether there are clearly designated areas.

Regional fee (parking) - Skaftafell and Jökulsárlón
- Category A – Passenger car, 5 or fewer seats 1.000 ISK
- Category B - Passenger car, 6-9 seats 1.300 ISK
- Category C - Bus, 10-19 seats 2.500 ISK
- Category D - Bus, 20-32 seats 4.700 ISK
- Category E - Bus, 33 seats or more 8.500 ISK
- Motorcycle 400 ISK
The regional fee is valid until midnight on the date it is paid. During that period, you can drive in and out of the area freely.
A 50% discount is given on the regional fee if another fee-based service area of Vatnajökull National Park has been previously visited within the same date as the regional fee was paid.
Collection of area fees is carried out by taking a photo of the license plate of a car that drives into a certain parking lot, and if certain conditions are met, the owner of the vehicle is required to pay the area fee, which can be paid in several ways. You can also pay the zone fee in the payment machines in the parking lots.
P-card, parking card for persons with reduced mobility
Holders of parking cards (P-sign) for persons with reduced mobility can request to be exempted from the collection of the regional fee. A request that the registration number of a vehicle (with which the respective P-sign holder travels) should be included in the list of exemptions should normally be sent by e-mail to [email protected] in good time before the vehicle is driven to the area. It should be noted that a P-sign is the reason for the request. Requests are processed during office hours and an answer confirming the registration is sent to the person by e-mail.
