Kreppubrú (bridge over Kreppa)

One of the main entrances to the national park to the north of the glacier is by Kreppubrú. Kreppa is one of four large glacial rivers that run from under the western edge of the glacier Brúarjökull and are joined with the river Kverká some distance to the north, and then there is the river Jökulsá á Fjöllum, northernmost in Krepputunga. The bridge over the river was constructed in the summer of 1970. Once the bridge over Kreppa has been crossed into the national park, there is a resting area which travellers can stretch their weary limbs and avail themselves of the chemical toilet before resuming their journey.
