Falljökull

Falljökull is a creeping glacier that extends from the caldera of Öræfajökull. Among the other creeping glaciers that come from the 1,800 m high edge of the caldera are Kvíárjökull and Kotárjökull. Falljökull is split into two glacier tongues around Rauðikambur, and the northern tongue is called Virkisjökull.

Glacier hikes on Falljökull can be arranged through many tourism service providers. Care should always be taken when hiking in front of glaciers and on them. Use appropriate safety gear and go with a guide who has experience with glacier walks.
